A man captured on a homeowner’s Ring camera hitting and kicking a dog in the hallway of an apartment complex has been identified by police.
The man has not yet been arrested and charged for animal cruelty but the investigation is still underway.
The Anaheim Police Department began their investigation last week after the troubling video was posted on social media.
A resident of the Gateway Apartment Homes in Anaheim, California had reviewed their home surveillance system and ended up posting the shocking video to social media. According to Inside Edition, the police were not notified but became aware of the video online after it was shared multiple times and the department was repeatedly contacted.
The disturbing video shows a man using his fists to beat the black dog and then kick it before grabbing the dog’s leash and pulling him/her down the hall.
As of September 19, 2022, Anaheim police provided an update on the case.
“We’ve had a lot of public inquiry on the recent animal cruelty case. Although we can’t publicly provide the full details of the investigation, here is some info we can share and how you can help next:
“The suspect in question has been identified. He is not in custody at this time.”
They also provided an update on the dog.
“We are still attempting to locate the animal seen in the video. We believe the animal to be a Golden Doodle, black in color with curly hair, or similar medium-large breed. Attached is a photo of a Golden Doodle for reference (source ©iStock.com/Corey O’Hara), the photo is not of the actual dog depicted in the video.
“Anyone who may know the current location of the dog shown in the video is urged to call APD Detectives at 714-321-3669.
“We will provide an additional update when appropriate. Our goal in this, and any criminal investigation, is to collect all available evidence and facts in order to have the most complete investigation possible. To that end, our detectives continue to work on this case. Thank you to the many people who have provided information to our detectives.”
