100-Pound Deaf Dog Becomes a Lifeline and Nanny for Rescue Beagle and Her Puppies

Butter the beagle had spent her entire life in a breeding warehouse, having litter after litter of puppies. So when she arrived in foster care with seven babies of her own, she was overwhelmed. Frightened of people and unsure of her new surroundings, Butter needed time to decompress and learn that humans could be kind.

That’s when an unlikely hero stepped in.

Jasmyne, a 100-pound deaf dog known for her energetic personality, seemed to know exactly what Butter needed. While Butter adjusted to her new life, Jasmyne took over nanny duties—watching over the puppies, letting them climb all over her, tug on her ears, and treat her like the world’s biggest jungle gym.

“The babies loved her,” said Elli, who fostered the beagle family and who is Jasmyne’s mom.

Patient, gentle, and endlessly protective, Jasmyne gave Butter the space she needed to heal while making sure her puppies were safe, loved, and entertained. And as Butter slowly learned to trust, she began embracing the life she’d never had before. She even appeared grateful for Jasmyne’s help.

Thanks to a foster family that never gave up and a nanny dog with a heart of gold, every one of Butter’s puppies eventually found a loving home.
