Woman Rescues Her Dog From Raging Floodwaters in China After Refusing to Let Go
Every time the floodwaters pulled her dog away, she reached back and grabbed him again. A dramatic rescue during severe flooding in Guangxi, China, has touched millions of people around the world.
A video shared on Chinese social media platform Weibo shows a woman standing neck-deep in fast-moving floodwaters, desperately clinging to a brick wall to avoid being swept away. Beside her was her Border Collie.
With nothing to hold onto, the frightened dog was repeatedly caught by the powerful current and dragged away from the wall. But each time, despite struggling to keep her own footing, the woman reached out with one hand, grabbed her dog, and pulled him back to safety.

At one point, both of them were swept backward by the rushing water, and it appeared they might be carried away.
Thankfully, nearby bystanders rushed to help. One person entered the floodwaters while another extended a bamboo pole, allowing both the woman and her dog to make it safely back to shore.
The incident happened during devastating flooding in Guangxi in early July, where torrential rains caused rivers to overflow and prompted the region’s highest flood alert.
The video has since been viewed millions of times, with many people praising the woman’s determination. One person remarked: “She’s like a warrior, she never gave up.”
One comment in particular captured what so many viewers were thinking: “You don’t abandon family.”
