A mother dog and her newborn babies were found huddled in a small cardboard box under a car when Dog Rescue Shelter Mladenovac, Serbia arrived to help them.
The dog had wandered by a shop seeking refuge and the kind shop keepers put the box next to the car for her because it had been raining the night before. There she stayed until rescuers came.

Speaking softly to the mama dog, the rescuer slowly approaches her, trying to earn her trust. But the mother seems timid and a bit concerned by his attention, keeping her paws around her puppies to protect them.
She lets her guard down when the man offers her food, but she jumps out of the box when he tries to leash her.
Despite the danger of her running away, the dog’s mothering instincts are too strong and she refuses to leave her puppies behind.
Dog Rescue Shelter Mladenovac writes of the dog, “This poor girl was clearly scared, but showed her bravery and willingness to trust those who wanted to help her and her six babies.” Back at their shelter, the mom could take care of “her babies without worry.”
