Dog Stolen from Home 4 Years Ago Reunites with His Mom

Jack the dog has had a rocky life. Rescued from a chain, stolen from his rescuer’s home, he was recently found by police with a homeless man. Police in Flint, Michigan were called to assist a homeless man having a medical episode in his car. Officer Victoria Butcher noticed the man had a dog in the car and said “it just broke my heart.”

After getting the man help, Officer Butcher reached out to Bill Heatley with Streethearts Dog Rescue. They scanned the shepherd mix for a microchip and found the contact information for Desirae Cornell.

Desirae had rescued Jack four years earlier after she befriended him when he was a puppy. She told Click Detroit that the dog had been chained outside a Detroit home every day and she would stop by and share her lunch with him.

Eventually, Jack’s owners said Desirae could take him. That, or they would euthanize him. She didn’t hesitate. She took Jack home and got him all his vaccinations, a health check, neutered and got him microchipped.

But only months after taking him home, someone broke into her yard and stole him. She filed a police report but didn’t hold out much hope of seeing her friend again. She was so heartbroken she didn’t get another dog. She was overcome with emotion when Heatley called her. It didn’t take long for the two friends to reunite and for Jack to show just how relieved he was to finally be home.

Check out their reunion in the video below.
