Newfoundland Dog Broken Hearted After Her Homeless Owner Disappears

An abandoned and heartbroken dog was recently saved from the side of the freeway in Los Angeles after an animal rescuer spotted her. Eldad Hagar was notified by Sabine Bradley, who runs a reptile rescue, that the dog hadn’t moved from the spot. But with the heat rising to triple digits, the dog was in danger of heat stroke.

The dog was calm and let Eldad pet her but he noted that she looked “completely defeated.” Eldad figures the sad dog’s owner was homeless but disappeared. “I will never know the circumstances for her owner’s disappearance… maybe hospitalization, arrest, or even death,” he wrote on his YouTube channel. “One thing I know for sure is that she was loyal and loved.”

Thankfully, Eldad was able to coax “Brenda” to his car and bring her to safety. “She was dehydrated, lethargic, suffering from pneumonia and broken hearted,” LA Animal Rescue wrote of Brenda on their Facebook page. The rescue group took the big dog in after she had received vet care.

Since arriving at the rescue in July, the Newfie mix has gained some much needed weight and is good with other dogs from what the rescue has seen. She is looking for a loving family to adopt her. Visit LA Animal Rescue’s website for more information.
