Stray Puppy Walks Into Man’s Workplace And Right Into His Heart
“Sometimes we find them, sometimes they find us.” Kristin Erwin, president of Streethearts Project, frequently rescues dogs from roadsides in Texas, where many strays are in desperate need of help. But one special dog recently came looking for help on her own.
Erwin’s husband was at his workplace when a puppy appeared and wouldn’t leave. So, at the end of the workday, he brought her home.
On the ride home, the pup looked at her new friend adoringly and even rested her head on his arm and happily ate the cheeseburger he offered her.
Erwin wrote on Instagram that they were glad to add the pup to their foster dog family, writing, “The area she was wandering is an industrial area with a lot of semi trucks. We are relieved and thankful we were able to get her safe! ”
“When we got her home, we gave her a much needed bath and treated her for fleas and worms,” Erwin continued. “She’s already hit it off with our other dogs here! She’s so sweet, gentle and we can’t wait to learn more about her! She will see our vet next week where she’ll receive the rest of vetting including microchip and spay.”
They decided to name her Ruby (or Ruby-Doo) and said that she has adjusted to life at home. “She has quickly fit in at her foster home, immediately went to playing with the other dogs and wore out the toddler. She howls at sirens and it’s the cutest thing! Ruby has some obedience to learn but she keeps a nice, clean kennel (accident free).”
Erwin said that if no owners come forward, Ruby will be adoptable through one of their rescue partners after she completes her vetting. She added, “In the meantime, she’s safe and being cared for!
