Shy Senior Shelter Dog with Limp Blossoms After Young Couple Takes a Chance on Her

Sammie and her boyfriend were in Florida for school when they decided to visit Miami-Dade Animal Services. That’s where they first saw Linda, a shy senior German Shepherd with a bad limp. Linda had been at the shelter for several months with no interest from adopters, but something about her touched Sammie, and they decided to give her a home.

They quickly noticed that Linda was flat-footed, nervous about being inside a house, and uninterested in toys. Veterinarians suspected she had been confined in a cage, which accounted for her poor gait. She was also likely used as a breeding dog, having had several litters of puppies.

Despite her initial hesitation, Linda was clearly happy to be out of the shelter and slowly warmed up to her new family and surroundings. With dedicated care and a consistent health regimen, she progressed from being barely mobile to running and playing in the snow.

Linda now loves toys and impresses everyone she meets with how very calm and friendly she is. Sammie says seniors like Linda deserve a second chance because “they have do much heart and love to give.”
