Hearts Break As Senior Dog Realizes She’s the Only One Left After Adoption Event
A senior rescue dog’s heartbreaking moment may lead her to a happy ending. Hotdog, an 11-year-old Chihuahua terrier mix broke the hearts of dog lovers recently when a video of her at an adoption event went viral.
In the video shared by Paw Squad 559 in Clovis, California, the animal rescue was wrapping up a successful adoption event —every dog they brought found a home, except for Hotdog. They filmed the sweet dog’s reaction as she expectantly watched, hoping someone would come for her. The overlaid text in the video reads, “As the adoption event winded down, only one remains. HotDog patiently waits for someone to adopt her.”
Paw Squad 559 revealed, “Hotdog is an 11 year old amazing girl who has been in foster care for 1 year. She is longing for a family of her own. Hotdog watches week after week as her doggy friends find wonderful families to love them. She sits and waits and waits for someone to notice how truly amazing she is.”
They continued. “Someday someone special will see what we see sweet girl. Until then your PawSquad family will love you even more and keep shining a light on the incredible love you have to offer.”
The rescue group pulled Hotdog from an overcrowded shelter, where she had been for two months and was scheduled for euthanasia that very day due to an untreated heart murmur. They believe she was used as a breeding dog for a long time because she was still lactating when they rescued her. Thanks to the rescue team’s veterinarians, Hotdog’s heart murmur is now under control. Additionally, a generous sponsor has offered to cover the first year of her heart medication for any potential adopter.
After the video went viral, Hotdog continued to wait. But an appearance on the local news drove a spike in adoption applications. “Hotdog made the news…inquiries for Miss Hotdog has been rolling in. We will be going through the applications and finding the best fit for our superstar.”
