Firefighter Adopts Stray Pit Bull Found Outside During Blaze

A stray dog found wandering the streets during a fire in Harrisburg, PA, now has a home after one of the firefighters responding to the call decided to rescue her.

Lieutenant Kyle Gaul, who works at the Middletown Volunteer Fire Department, responded to a call about a house fire when he spotted the young Pit Bull.

“When we found her, she was outside of the house in Harrisburg, and she was running around,” Kyle told Fox43. “And we determined that it was a little too cold for her to be outside.”

It turns out the dog, now named Bella, had been living as a stray after her owner passed away and his house was sold. She had been hanging around the neighborhood with nowhere else to go.

Kyle immediately called his fiancée, April Lemon, to ask about bringing Bella home. They hadn’t been looking for another dog but had agreed that if a dog ever needed a home, they would “jump on it.”

Before Bella could meet April, Kyle and the firefighters were called to another fire, and Bella accompanied them in the fire engine.

“She looked like she had done it a million times before,” said Kyle. “We drove over there and operated at the scene for a couple of hours with her in the back of the tower. She became the star of the show.”

Since then, Bella has been quickly making friends at the firehouse and becoming part of Kyle and April’s family.
