Driver and Dog Separated by Crash Have Heartwarming Reunion — and Matching Black Eyes

A driver and his beloved dog have been reunited after a terrible car accident sent them both to the hospital. Miles Heagy, a truck driver, and his dog Rowdy were injured when an alleged drunk driver spun out of control and collided with Heagy’s truck on the I-5 freeway in Redding, California.

Rescuers extracted Heagy and took him to Mercy Medical Center, while Rowdy was taken to Haven Humane Society. Both were sporting matching black eyes when they reunited after two days apart—the longest Heagy has ever been separated from Rowdy.

Heagy and Rowdy happily hugged each other at the animal shelter and met the animal control officer who had pulled Rowdy out of the crash. Haven Humane provided all the care for Rowdy free of charge.

Heagy’s fiancée said he missed Rowdy terribly. The couple drove ten hours to reunite with the small dog.
“He goes everywhere with me,” Heagy explained to ABC KRCR. “I got him when he was a little, little guy.” He added that it was a blessing they made it out of the crash alive.
