Dog Rescuer Decides To Drive By ‘Dumping Area’ and Finds The Sweetest Puppy
Dog rescuers know the heartbreaking hotspots. Those rural roads and hidden corners where unwanted dogs are often dumped. Kristin Erwin, president of Streethearts Project in Texas, is no stranger to these places. On a last-minute detour home, she decided to check one out — and what she found was something she had to share.
She wrote on TikTok:
“On my way home yesterday I turned down a road that’s well known for dumping dogs. Sure enough, as I approached the curve stood a big, friendly puppy. I called out to see if there were any others but she appeared to be alone.”
Kristin called out to the puppy, who perked up and trotted over. The dog disappeared briefly behind Kristin’s car before reappearing and jumping up for some pets. “I don’t know why I was surprised,” Kristin said about finding the pup, before gently bundling her into the car and heading home.

Kristin gave the puppy a bath, noting, “She’s a little underweight and had fleas but I’m hoping she didn’t have to wait too long out here.”
The puppy got to meet Kristin’s feral foster dog, Izzy, “who has been needing a friend like her.” Although not named just yet, the friendly pup is making herself at home. Kristin noted, “If no one is looking for her, we’ll get her vetted and find a rescue group to help us find her a family.”

Pupdate: Shiloh has been adopted.
Streethearts wrote: “Shiloh came to us a little over a month ago. She was found at a popular curve known for dropping dogs off at. From the start, Shiloh quickly blended in with the other dogs—super spunky, super playful, and always keeping everyone entertained. Weeks went by with no sign of an owner looking for her, so we moved forward with her vetting and @texasbarksquad began the search for her forever home. And wow, this little lady received a lot of interest! This past weekend, Shiloh made the journey to Michigan to meet her new family… and it’s safe to say she’s already making herself right at home.”
