Dog Rescued From Hoarding Case Learns to Love After Just Three Days in Foster Care
A dog rescued from a horrific hoarding case in Brooklyn, New York, is already making remarkable progress after just a few days in foster care. Capy and five other dogs were taken in by Muddy Paws Rescue — one of the organizations that partnered with ACC — after the dogs were discovered living in horrific conditions in the home of an elderly woman. Once Capy was cleaned up and examined by a vet, he was placed with foster caregivers Katie and Tate of Fostermates.
At first, Capy spent the day hiding in his crate, overwhelmed and unsure of his new surroundings. Katie noted that he likely never experienced peace and quiet before, having lived in constant noise. The couple is taking things slowly, letting Capy adjust at his own pace with a little help from their other foster pup, Quartz. Capy took his first steps out of the crate when Quartz came over to greet him, and what followed was a heart-melting exchange that’s touched dog lovers everywhere.

On his first day in foster care, Capy spent time decompressing—but he ate, rested, and began adjusting.

Over the next few days, he bravely ventured out of his crate, slowly seeking out attention. Within just three days, Capy was not only accepting pets from Katie, he had started cuddling with her, a huge step considering where he came from.

He’s just now being introduced to toys, which he doesn’t quite understand yet, so he’s been squirreling them away.

Capy is already showing so much love and courage—and we can only hope the other rescued dogs are making progress just like this good boy. To support Muddy Paws Rescue visit their Linktree page.
