Dog Left in Pain and Covered in Infections Makes Miraculous Transformation

When an Oklahoma shelter worker reached out to Nexus Pets’ Programs Director, Cassidy Vaughn, and told her there was a dog she needed to see, Cassidy didn’t know what to expect. But when she met Violet, she had never seen a dog looking so bad before.

Violet was very sad, very sick, and had no chance of getting out of the shelter unless Nexus Pets—an animal rescue and welfare group—stepped in to help.

Cassidy agreed to take Violet and brought her straight to the veterinarian. Violet had an injured leg and was riddled with infections. Cassidy bathed her every other day to treat her mange and staph infections. Once Violet was stronger, they amputated her broken leg, which also had five broken toes. She felt instant relief and even began walking the very evening after her surgery.

Throughout her healing journey, Violet was nothing but grateful. “Over that time Violet gradually began emerging from her shell, revealing her resilient spirit that lies within,” wrote Nexus Pets.

Months later, Violet was nearly unrecognizable—and ready to find her forever home. It didn’t take long before she found a loving family devoted to her.
