Dog Thrown From Car In Rollover Crash Found Between Rocks By Group Of Kids
After a terrifying rollover crash in Vermilion, Ohio one woman escaped with only minor injuries but her beloved dog, Sugar, was nowhere to be found.
During the violent accident, Sugar was thrown from the vehicle and disappeared into the nearby woods. As first responders worked the crash scene, her owner could only hope her frightened companion had survived.

For hours, there was no sign of her. Then came the call that changed everything.
A group of children exploring the shoreline of Lake Erie spotted an injured dog tucked between large rocks along the steep bank. Realizing she needed help, they immediately alerted their parents, who contacted police.
Soon, officers, firefighters, and EMTs worked together to rescue Sugar from the difficult terrain. Cold, scared, and injured, she was carefully carried back to safety before being transported to a veterinary clinic for treatment.

Sugar was reunited with her relieved owner, a joyful ending made possible by compassionate first responders and the quick-thinking kids who refused to look the other way.
To recognize their kindness, the Vermilion Police Department presented each child with a “Did the Right Thing” coupon for a free ice cream from Romp’s Dairy Dock, celebrating the caring actions that helped save a life.

Police also shared an important reminder after the crash. The driver admitted she had been texting behind the wheel and was cited for distracted driving—a sobering example of how one moment of inattention can change lives in an instant.
Thankfully, this story ended with hope instead of heartbreak.

Thanks to these children, Sugar is back home safe with her family.
