16-Year-Old Stray Dog Endured Hardship But Still Greets Everyone With Hope
The San Diego Humane Society (SDHS) recently welcomed a very special stray — a 16-year-old dog found by a Good Samaritan and taken to an animal hospital that partners with the rescue organization.
“It takes a village to save lives — and this sweet pup is living proof,” San Diego Humane Society shared on social media. “At 16 years old, he was found as a stray and brought by a community member to our partners at VCA Mission Valley. With no bottom jaw and a swollen muzzle, it was clear he had endured more than his share of hardship. Yet despite his condition, he greeted everyone with gentle eyes and a hopeful spirit.”

The dog, who is now named Blobert, went by “Alfie” at SDHS. Blobert received compassionate care at VCA and was then transported to SDHS’s San Diego Campus. They knew that a special senior dog like him would need specialized care and that’s when Frosted Faces Foundation stepped in to help him on the next steps of his journey.
“They…will make sure he gets what every senior dog deserves: safety, love and the chance to spend his golden years with a family of his own,” SDHS wrote.
Frosted Faces Foundation will work towards finding Bloebert a forever family who will love him.

SDHS recognized how rescuing one dog takes a coordinated effort. They wrote:
“We are deeply grateful to our partners at VCA Mission Valley and Frosted Faces Foundation for showing what’s possible when we work together. Blobert’s story is a powerful reminder that saving lives is never the work of one organization alone. From veterinarians to shelters to rescues — and the community members who make this work possible — it truly takes all of us to give animals like him a second chance.”
