Kind-hearted Stranger Restores Memorial Bench Honoring a ‘Good Dog’

Danny Stenhouse was out walking when he came across a bench he says was “dedicated to a good dog.” The wooden bench had a plaque commemorating someone’s beloved pet, but it had fallen into disrepair. Seeing this, Danny decided to do something about it.

He shared a video on Instagram with the caption, “I found a bench dedicated to a good dog. So I paid my respects.”

Danny specializes in restoring hardwood flooring, so he had the tools to give the bench some much-needed TLC.

First, he used a scraper tool to clean the algae and mildew off the wood. Then he sanded it down to prime it for a waterproof stain. He also polished the metal plaque, which reads, “Berri Romans: The best dog in the world.” Finally, he stained the wood to preserve it. When he was finished, the bench once again stood as a beautiful tribute to a loving companion.

Viewers were touched. One person wrote, “What a beautiful thing to do.” Another said, “How lovely that good dog is not forgotten. It’s a wonderful small act to clean that bench up, WELL DONE you nice man!”

This reminds us of the woman who transformed her dog’s favorite stair into a loving memorial for him.
