Starving Street Pup Given A Second Chance And Makes The Most Of It

Kiki was found late at night, weak, scared, and malnourished. The tiny puppy was trying to survive the freezing winter streets of the Bronx in New York City. It was clear she had endured a life of starvation and abuse, despite her young age. Despite having every reason to give up, she was given a second chance by Angels for Mistreated Animals (AMA Animal Rescue).

The Brooklyn based no-kill animal shelter rescued Kiki and found hera foster family, giving her the first taste of safety and warmth she had likely ever known. Over the following months, Kiki received intensive medical care and rehabilitation. Slowly, her health began to improve.

But healing wasn’t just physical. Kiki had emotional hurdles to overcome, and her foster family met each one with patience, love, and consistent training. “Over time, Kiki blossomed into a confident, happy dog, and her foster family quickly realized they couldn’t imagine life without her,” AMA Animal Rescue.

Today, Kiki is thriving. She’s a happy, healthy dog surrounded by love. AMA Animal Rescue wrote of Kiki’s rescue, “This story is a reminder of why fostering is so important— it saves lives and creates lasting bonds. We are so grateful to Kiki’s family and our supporters for giving her a second chance and showing how love and care can transform a life.”
