Senior Dog With Pink Fur Found Wandering Near Desert Park Finds New Family

Meet Luna—a stray dog with a very distinctive feature. And no, it’s not her one blue and one brown eye. It’s her pink fur.

A few weeks ago, Luna was found wandering near White Tank Mountain Regional Park in Waddell, Arizona, and was brought to Maricopa County Animal Care & Control.

Her coat had been dyed pink with a pet-safe coloring commonly used by groomers, and she was microchipped. Shelter staff hoped the 10-year-old pup would quickly be reunited with her family. However, despite trying every way possible to contact her owners, no one responded. A groomer who recognized Luna even reached out and provided a possible contact, but still no luck.

After her mandatory 5-day hold, Luna was placed up for adoption. The shelter made a viral video highlighting her wonderful qualities. She knows sit, shake, and down. She loves car rides—and rides like a champ. She’s smart, playful, and doesn’t seem to mind other dogs. And through it all, she stayed calm and friendly at the shelter.

Thankfully, Luna didn’t have to wait long to start her next chapter. Maricopa County Animal Care & Control later shared an update on Facebook: “For all those wondering about what happened to Luna, Pink Puppy Club President—she was adopted a few weeks ago! Unfortunately, even after going viral, no owner came forward for this sweet lady. But her new adopter, who is already an experienced husky owner, was excited to start the next chapter of her life. She even wore shoes to match Luna’s coat.”
