French Bulldog Puppy Left Sick And Alone Finds Hope Through Rescue
A French Bulldog puppy found wandering alone as a stray now has a chance at life after being rescued by Tri-County Animal Rescue (TCAR) in Florida.
Winnie is just nine months old, and her rescuers say, “She has no idea that the world she lives in looks different from other puppies. She doesn’t know that she’s broken. But we do. And it’s devastating.”
She came to TCAR from Animal Care and Control as a medical case—but even the rescue team was shocked by the extent of her health issues. Their hearts broke when they saw the condition she was in.
Winnie is completely blind, with one injured eye and no sight in the other. She’s also heartworm positive, and medical tests revealed that her kidneys are underdeveloped—likely due to inbreeding. Despite everything, Winnie is full of joy and clearly happy to be in caring hands.

TCAR writes on Facebook, “Winnie doesn’t know any of this. She runs, she plays, she wags her little body with so much energy, so much joy. She doesn’t realize how sick she is. And that’s what makes this so much harder to bear.”

Although TCAR doesn’t don’t quite know where to begin, they refuse to give up on her, writing, “She deserves more than the hand she was dealt. She deserves love, comfort, and a future.”

Winnie will need at least two months of care before she’s strong enough to undergo surgery and begin heartworm treatment.
Dog lovers who want to help Winnie now are encouraged to donate to Tri-County Animal Rescue. “Every donation—big or small—helps us fight for Winnie. Helps us treat her heartworms. Helps us support her kidneys. Helps us give her a chance,” TCAR writes.

They add, “She needs all of us now more than ever. Winnie may not know she’s broken. But we know we can help put her back together.”
