Pit Bull Who People Called ‘Monster Dog’ Looking For Family

A stray dog that people were throwing things at and calling a “monster” has been rescued and is now looking for a home. Jacksonville Animal Care & Protective Services came to the aid of a Pit Bull they’ve named Spiderman this past week.

They shared Spiderman’s story on Instagram, writing: “People called him the ‘Monster Dog,’ but to us he’s just Spiderman.”

“Officer Lowery introduced us to Spiderman this week and told us all about his rescue—and why he’s not so monstrous after all,” they wrote. “She had gotten multiple calls from people about an injured stray dog who needed to be picked up quickly, as ‘part of his face was missing.’ From the moment she put a leash around him, Officer Lowery could tell that he was gentle, affectionate, and ‘100% a good boy’ despite his injuries.”

Spiderman had been seen approaching dogs, wagging his tail, and wanting to make friends. But people shunned him because of his appearance. However, Officer Lowery thought differently. “I knew he was a good boy,” she said. This was proven by how he allowed people to show him love and actively sought comfort.

Regarding his injuries, they said: “While we might not know exactly what happened to his nose (some injuries appeared to be very old, some much more recent) before he came to us, we do know that he’s in good hands with our vet team and will make a wonderful addition to someone’s family (sweaters optional, but encouraged )! He doesn’t seem to be in any pain, and we can tell he’s ready for some love and a fresh start.”
