Pit Bull Stuck On Bridge For Over 12 Hours Finally Rescued

A stray Pit Bull spent 12 hours in a precarious spot—perched on the shoulder of a bridge in Florida. How she got there remains a mystery, but one thing was clear: she needed to be rescued, and quickly.

Because the dog was on the far side of a concrete barrier, she wasn’t immediately visible. But when a driver finally spotted her, they called Jacksonsville Animal Care & Protective Services.

A rescue team was dispatched, and Kyle, one of the rescuers, immediately noticed how nervous the pup was—and with good reason.

“I had to take a few breaths,” Kyle said. “I knew this was a very dangerous situation. The wind was blowing the bridge, every car that passed by, you could feel the bumps.”

Police officers assisted by stopping a lane of traffic. Kyle and his co-worker carefully approached the dog and quickly slipped a leash around her neck as she remained frozen in place. He then lifted her over the barrier to safety.

“I just had a sigh of relief,” Kyle said. “It even brings emotion now.”

Back at the shelter, the dog took some time to relax and regain her composure. But before long, she was playing in the yard, rolling over for belly rubs, and showing her sweet personality. It didn’t take long for Jacksonville ACPS to find her a loving home.

“She got adopted by a really cute family,” Kyle said. “She just went from fearful to the happiest dog.”
