Sweet Shelter Dog Offers Her Favorite Toys to Everyone Who Walks By Her Kennel
Sometimes, all a dog wants is someone to notice them.
At Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League in West Palm Beach, Florida, a sweet pup named Roxy had a habit that melted hearts. Every time someone walked past her kennel, she’d pick up one of her beloved stuffed toys and offer it to them—hoping it might be the thing that made them stop.
But day after day, Roxy was overlooked. Despite her gentle nature and loving personality, she waited nearly two months without much interest.
Staff adored her. “Everybody loves her,” Mara Gleason told the Dodo. “She’s very social… once she’s one-on-one with a person, all she wants is the person. She’ll leave the toys behind.” Belly rubs, back scratches, and simply being close to someone—that’s all Roxy really wanted.
At 7 years old, she was part of the shelter’s “Grey Whisker Club,” and like many senior dogs, she faced a tougher road to adoption. Her past was largely unknown, but what was clear was how much love she had to give.
And then, everything changed.
The pup who once tried to share her toys with strangers finally caught someone’s eye. A potential adopter stepped forward—and Roxy has now begun her transition into a loving home of her own.
After waiting so patiently, she didn’t just find a family, she found the second chance she always deserved.
