Street Dog Sacrifices Her Life To Save 30 Schoolchildren From Deadly Snake
It started like any normal Monday morning at school in the village in Odisha in India’s Mayurbhanj district. Around 30 kindergarten children were sitting outside at 8:30am when a venomous snake began moving toward them.
No one was aware of the danger, except for a dog. Kali, a street dog known around the village, stepped in without hesitation—placing herself between the snake and the children.

According to villagers, a fight ensued and the dog fought bravely, refusing to back down. She managed to kill the snake but was bitten on the mouth. The venom was too strong… and Kali didn’t survive. But what she did was never forgotten.
The entire village came together to honor her bravery. They held a funeral procession normally reserved for humans, gently placing her on a trolley, covering her with flowers and a white cloth, and carrying her through the streets before laying her to rest.

Dozens gathered—not out of routine, but out of respect.
Kali was no longer just a stray. She was the dog who saved more than 30 children. She was a true angel.
