Skinny Pup Chained Outside Abandoned House Wags Tail When Rescuers Arrive

“It happened again.” When Stray Rescue of St. Louis found Chimpi, it only took them 57 seconds to fall in love with the Pit bull mix puppy. “This skinny 1-year-old pup with pale gums was chained to an abandoned house and found laying on a blanket. No food or water bowls in sight,” they wrote.

When Donna, the rescue’s Chief Lifesaving Officer, approached him, he made them love him even more. “He stayed low and wagged his tail to show us he was no threat. Buddy, we could tell just by looking in your eyes.”

Donna freed him from the chain that had locked him to the house, and the moment she got him into the Jeep, his expressive eyes told them “thank you.” He just looked so happy to be rescued and off that chain.

The rescue told Chimpi he is now safe, writing: “Chimpi, we don’t know how anyone could EVER leave you behind. To be hungry. To be lonely. To be outside in the darkness all by yourself. Never again. You’re gonna be someone’s baby. We promise.”
