Restaurant Employees Make Sure Dog’s Last Meal Is ‘Made With Love’
It’s always emotional saying goodbye to a beloved pet. Hunter Metzger and his family recently had to say goodbye to their dog, Iris. To make her last meal extra memorable, he placed a special order at Texas Roadhouse in Ephrata, Pennsylvania. He ordered a New York Strip steak (without seasoning) and added a request: Our dog’s last meal. Please make with love.

The restaurant staff took that instruction to heart. One of the restaurant’s chefs shared a photo of the order slip with the caption overlayed: “You better believe that was the best steak I’ve ever cooked.”

Other employees wrote heartfelt notes on the takeout container and receipt, reassuring Hunter’s family that the food was made with love.

Hunter later shared his thanks in a social media post, letting people know the staff’s compassion was deeply appreciated by his family — and that Iris loved her special meal.

Kate Weston, who works at Texas Roadhouse, posted some photos on Facebook and added, “Honored that I could be a part of this dog’s life in the smallest way. So proud of my team. RIP Iris.”
