Rescued Pit Bull Looks After Dog With Dementia
Meet Lucy, a sweet Pittie who not only healed her mom Gena’s heart but also takes care of her canine sibling, Domino. Gena had recently lost her other dog and was heartbroken. When she took a look at adoptable dogs from the same shelter where she had adopted Domino years earlier, she saw a photo of Lucy and felt an instant pull. After convincing her husband to meet her, Lucy came for a visit with her foster family — and she never left.
Now 14, Domino has dementia, and Lucy has taken on the role of his gentle guardian. She stays with him when it gets dark so he does not get lost, alerts Gena if he needs anything, and helps keep him safe. Thanks to Lucy’s presence, Domino has been happier and more playful than he’s been in years.
