Heroic Pit Bull Jumps In Front Of Gun, Taking Two Bullets For Her Owner

A dog named Trinity is being hailed as a hero after protecting her family during a shooting at the Brigadoon Apartments in Texas last week.

According to Jessica Sinclair, a man identified as Jeremy Gibson allegedly opened fire, shooting multiple people before turning his gun toward her. In that moment, Trinity jumped in to protect her — and was shot twice in the face. “She literally got shot right between her eyes, and it came out through the mouth,” Sinclair said, adding that vets believe “she probably swallowed the bullet” as she ran.

Despite her injuries, Trinity fled and was missing for nearly 24 hours, prompting a large community search effort as residents combed the area looking for her. Sinclair began receiving messages from people asking if they had spotted her dog, until one photo finally led her to Trinity, who was found sitting quietly under a tree.

Trinity found a day later under a tree.

She was rushed to a veterinary clinic and is expected to make a full recovery. Sinclair credits Trinity’s actions with saving lives, calling her bravery something “most humans can’t even do.”

She was also touched by the community’s concern. “I am absolutely flabbergasted. The amount of people that read it, that shared it — not just that have loved that dog that they have never, ever met because of what she did,” Sinclair said. “Because what she did was such a, pardon my language, was such a badass thing. You know, it’s a big thing. You know, most humans can’t even do something like that.”

Gibson now faces multiple charges, including animal cruelty and aggravated assault, while Sinclair is urging the community to also support the other victims who remain hospitalized.
