Foster Mom Finds Sick Dog Relaxing on Porch Swing in Her New Jammies

A sweet Pit Bull saved from euthanasia at a county shelter in Houston, Texas is beginning to heal thanks to her dedicated foster mom.

Butterfly was rescued on September 6th after her foster mom and rescuer reached out to Dizzy Dog Animal Rescue for help.

The sick Pit Bull was immediately pulled from the shelter and taken home to start to heal. Butterfly’s skin was a “terrible mess” because of advanced mange. Her body is riddled with red, open scabs crisscrossing her skin and she is so itchy!

But Butterfly’s foster mom gave her her first medicated bath a day after her rescue and put on her new pajamas.

Butterfly must have known she was finally safe because she made herself at home in the most heartwarming way.

Dizzy Dog Animal Rescue shared on their Facebook page that Butterfly “found the porch swing and her foster mom found her just swinging.” How sweet is that?

The following day Butterfly went to the vet “to make sure she has everything she needs to help her skin heal. She received a shot to help with the itchiness.”

“We think she is already looking (and hopefully feeling) better,” the rescue group wrote.

Three days after her initial vet visit, Dizzy Dog shared an update on Butterfly’s progress.

“This sweet girl has already made big strides in her physical healing journey…Her skin is less red and irritated – thank goodness,” they said. “We are starting to see some hair grow back too!”

But Butterfly isn’t fully “out of the woods” yet. “She woke up today with a runny nose, so she will be heading back to the vet,” Dizzy Dog wrote. “She had a double ear infection on Friday when she was there. Hopefully this resolves quickly.”

The group is optimistic that Butterfly will continue healing and thanked their supporters for helping in that effort. If you would like to donate to Butterfly’s ongoing medical needs visit Dizzy Dog’s PayPal page or Facebook page. Butterfly has her own Amazon Wishlist as well.
