Dog Missing for 3 Days Found in Hidden Well Under Her Family’s House
A dog missing for three days has been reunited with her family after being discovered at the bottom of a hidden well beneath their house.
Jayla Hyden and her family immediately began searching for their dog, Blue, when she vanished from their home in Liberty Township, Pennsylvania. They looked everywhere, around the house, throughout the neighborhood, and even in the crawlspace underneath their home, shouting her name but hearing no response.
Then, three days later, they heard barking coming from under the dining room floor. It turned out there was a hidden well underneath the house, and Blue had fallen 24 feet down into it.
The family quickly alerted the Liberty Township Fire Department and Local 4394, who explained that the only way to reach Blue would be to cut a hole through the floor.

“They came in, they straight up told me if you want, the only way to get her is we gotta cut a hole in the floor and before he could even finish the sentence I said, ‘Yeah let’s do it. Let’s cut a hole in the floor,’” Hyden said.
Firefighter Cody Helmuth then descended through the opening and carefully clipped Blue into a harness so she could be pulled to safety.
The Hydens had no idea a well existed under their home and believe Blue may have walked across a piece of wood covering it before falling through.
Hyden described Blue as an adventurous pup, adding that if any dog could survive such an ordeal, it would be her. “We adopted her. She was a stray who was found in the woods,” she said.
Blue is doing well and appears unfazed by her dramatic adventure. According to the family, the first thing Blue wanted to do was to go out and play in the snow.
