Dog Learns to ‘Speak’ Using Buttons Thanks to Her Clever Mom
Speech pathologist Christina Hunger noticed her new puppy, Stella, was trying to communicate with her and that spark has ignited a movement of “talking dogs.” Christina thought maybe she could teach Stella to use buttons to “speak” to her. Stella has since gone from using just four buttons to more than 15—and she’s never been rewarded with treats for using them.
Christina figures she might be one of the first people to teach a dog to use buttons to communicate. But that doesn’t mean there haven’t been scientists and pet parents testing dog’s intelligence and ability to learn words. Chaser, a Border Collie, learned to identify over 1000 toys by name!
