Little Dog Desperately Clinging to Balcony Saved by Quick-Thinking Neighbors

A dog owner is eternally grateful to his neighbors after they came to the rescue of his dog, Tina, after she nearly fell to her death off of a balcony.

The Lhasa Apso got frightened by New Year’s Eve fireworks and tried to escape the noise by dashing through the balcony door of the third floor apartment in Parque Amazonia, Brazil.

Her owner, Jean Siqueira, had been home with her all day, but left Tina alone for just a few minutes to grab something at the grocery store. He left the balcony door slightly open, never dreaming Tina would be able to squeeze through and endanger herself.

He says she had been nervous all day from the New Year’s Eve fireworks, and likely panicked and tried to run away.

A neighbor filmed the harrowing rescue after someone alerted neighbors to the dog’s desperate situation. In it, the tiny dog is seen desperately clinging onto the ledge, before losing her grip and falling.

Thankfully, a group of smart, quick-thinking neighbors grabbed a sheet and were able to catch Tina after she fell.

A cheer goes up as the dog is caught safely and uninjured.

Siqueira was called and raced home to Tina, who he’s had for 11 years. He says she has calmed down and is back to her normal self after her ordeal.

“They showed me the video, and I did not believe it,” said Siqueira later. “It was desperate, I almost cried. If the people had not reacted so fast, I would not be with her in my lap today.”
