Burn Survivor Pup Reunites With Her Favorite Human And Her Reaction Says It All

Meet Aria, a “little warrior dog” with a whole lot of heart. Aria had been kept in an outdoor kennel filled with hay and covered by a tarp roof. Her previous owners placed a space heater nearby to try and keep her warm—but with unintended, tragic consequences.

A dog named Aria survived a horrific fire but did not come out unscathed. She was literally covered head to toe with burns that threatened her life.

Aria had been kept in an outdoor kennel filled with hay and covered by a tarp roof. Her previous owners placed a space heater nearby to try and keep her warm but that decision had unintended, tragic consequences.

“The space heater caught the hay and the tarp, and she caught on fire! We don’t have any more specifics other than that, or how she got out, whether she went over or under, or if she was rescued. So many questions,” Stray Rescue of St. Louis wrote on their website. “But a transporter offered to bring her to St. Louis so we could save her.”

And save her they have. Over the past several weeks, Aria has undergone the painful process of healing from her burns. This includes a difficult, ongoing process of her dead skin sloughing off, with the exposed areas closely monitored for infection and treated with Silver sulfadiazine cream (SSD cream kills bacteria and prevents its growth). During this time, Aria’s skin must be carefully covered and protected as much as possible.

Despite the pain, Aria quickly showed that she is still just a puppy and she “craves love, attention, and wiggles all over when we give her baby talk.”

One of her favorite people during her healing journey has been Tracy. Tracy helps out at the shelter’s clinic but hadn’t seen Aria for a while due to undergoing surgery of her own. To say Aria was happy to see her “favorite human” would be an understatement.

Stray Rescue of St. Louis wrote, “The wholesome content we ALL need…Not going to lie, we’ve already watched this three times!! Enjoy!!”

It will still be a while before Aria is ready for adoption, as her healing requires daily monitoring and treatment. Once her skin’s debriding is complete, Stray Rescue’s vet team will begin skin grafts using fish skin.

Each day, Aria feels better and is beginning to show off her sweet personality. Here’s another recent video where Julia, SRSL’s Chief of Clinic Administration, explains Aria’s story and how her treatment is progressing. Aria truly is a “little warrior dog,” just like Julia says.

“This girl is such a LOVER, nothing gets her down, her joy can’t be stopped,” Stray Rescue said. “We are beyond impressed by this amazing girl and inspired by her every single day!”
