Abused German Shorthaired Pointer Rediscovers Joy, Now Looking for a Family

“Vera is a German Shorthaired Pointer who was used for hunting and when she got ill, the owner bought a new dog and placed Vera outside, in a partially enclosed yard,” Howl of a Dog, an animal rescue in Romania wrote. But things took a turn for the worse when Vera got hit by a car and then was chained to a dog house so that she could not escape.

Vera rescued by Howl of a Dog

“She was being fed by the people living nearby, but years passed and her health deteriorated,” Howl of a Dog continued. “Fortunately, a passer-by noticed Vera and contacted us to rescue her, so Vera is now safe in our care.”

When Howl of a Dog took Vera to the vet they discovered that she had been shot four times by lead pellets and also had a fractured vertebrae, a four cm mass on her chest, bronchitis, otitis, gastroenteritis. She had been suffering so much.

But after a successful operation and lots of love and attention, Vera is looks much healthier now and has made a full recovery. Not only that, she is full of energy and life and is such a happy girl.

Vera is available for adoption at Howl of a Dog

She has been with Howl of a Dog for six months now and they are looking for someone to give her a loving home. Please check out her adoption profile here for details: www.howlofadog.org/Vera
