Pit Bull In Hospice Care Surprises His Family With His Ice Cream Runs Every Week

Edward is a senior Pittie who hasn’t let his health issues get in the way of enjoying life. He enjoy the little things. Being outside, meeting up with friends, and visiting the ice cream truck every week for a pup cup.

When Lindsey (@magnificent_foster_dogs) and her family began to foster Edward, the vets told them he likely only had 6 to 12 months left to live. He has bad arthritis, neurological issues, mobility issues. But 27 months later, Edward still surprises them.

Lindsey said when they first got Edward, her kids started a bucket list. She wrote, “[T]hanks to so many amazing people who donated, sent gifts, and cheered us on, that list kept growing—and we kept checking things off. As the months went on and Edward’s health held steady—and even improved—we kept adding new adventures.”

Although his bucket list is now completed, Edward still goes on adventures and the one thing he really looks forward is the ice cream truck coming by. It’s the fastest he walks and they always let him go to the front of the line and have his ice cream ready.

Linsdsey shared that Edward has taught her family a lot: “Through it all, Edward has reminded us to make the most of every. single. day. To live with purpose. To slow down and enjoy the little things. To remember how beautiful life is. He’s brought so much joy into our lives, and doing this list with him is something we’ll always treasure. He absolutely loves people—his people, new friends, everyone. And through him, we’ve met so many incredible folks in the dog community who’ve become part of this journey, too. Life with Edward is truly a gift—and we can’t wait to keep living it to the fullest with him right by our side.”

She also hopes that Edward inspires others to adopt or foster senior dogs. “Adopting him has been one of the most rewarding experiences of our lives — a beautiful opportunity to show our children that older dogs can be just as special, loving, and full of life as any young puppy. Like so many senior dogs who are often overlooked or face health challenges, Edward has shown us that they have so much love left to give and life to live.”
