Tiny Dog Left Tied Beneath Bathroom Sink With Only Raisin Bran Finds the Love She Deserves
After a family was evicted from their apartment, the unit was left sitting in silence—empty, still, and seemingly forgotten. But not long after, a property manager passing by heard something unexpected coming from inside.
It was faint. Easy to miss. Crying.
Following the sound, they stepped into the vacant apartment and searched room by room until it led them to the bathroom. There, beneath the sink, they discovered a tiny dog tied up and badly injured—alone, frightened, and barely clinging to life. She would later be named Autumn.
Left behind with nothing but a bowl of Raisin Bran, Autumn had been trapped there for days with no real food, no way to escape, and no one coming back for her. By the time she was found, she was dangerously underweight, severely dehydrated, and suffering from a deep, painful wound around her neck caused by the restraint that had kept her in place. It was clear she didn’t have much time left.
The property manager knew they had to act quickly. They reached out for help—and thankfully, someone answered.
Kate’s Furreka Rescue stepped in right away, arranging for Autumn to be rushed to Monte Vista Small Animal Hospital. There, veterinary staff carefully removed the collar and assessed the full extent of her injuries. The damage was severe, and surgery was her only chance at survival.
Despite everything she had endured, Autumn’s spirit remained remarkably gentle. “She is super sweet, and loves to be held,” Kim Dunn, a volunteer with Kate’s Rescue for Animals, told The Dodo.
Even in pain, she leaned into every kind touch, as though she still believed in the goodness of people.

Following surgery, Autumn began her long road to recovery. She experienced a brief fever, but it was quickly treated, and before long, she was strong enough to leave the hospital and move into a foster home. For the first time in what was likely a very long time, she experienced comfort, safety, and consistent care.
In her foster home, Autumn began to rediscover what it meant to simply be a dog. She found joy in soft beds, gentle hands, and a small plush giraffe that quickly became her favorite companion. Day by day, the fear she once carried began to fade. Her eyes grew brighter, her body stronger, and her tail slowly started to wag again.
The transformation was undeniable. The dog who had once been left behind and fighting to survive blossomed into what her rescuers lovingly described as a “happy little girl.”

A few months after her rescue, Autumn’s journey came full circle. She was adopted into a loving forever home—one where she will never again be forgotten or left behind.
What began as a heartbreaking story of abandonment has become something far more powerful: a story of resilience, compassion, and the life-changing impact of those who choose to step in and help when it matters most.
