A dog named Pumba is safe after being dug out from the rubble of a deadly landslide that struck Brazil earlier this week.
Pumba became trapped under debris when the ground gave way following heavy rains in the city of Juiz de Fora, located in the southeastern region of the country. Firefighters with the Minas Gerais Fire Department worked carefully and methodically to free him from the wreckage. Once located, the dog appeared eager to get out and was given a helping hand as rescuers pulled him to safety.

The landslides and flooding have had a devastating impact on the region. An estimated 60 people have died in Juiz de Fora due to the severe rains, and search and rescue teams continue to respond to the ongoing emergency.
