Neglected Dog Becomes Foster Dad to Orphaned Bear Cubs

A dog who spent most of his life tied up outside until he was abandoned surprised rescuers with his unexpected role as a foster dad to orphaned bears.

Milton was rescued from the streets of Azerbaijan in horrible condition. He was starved, dehydrated, and suffering from advanced mange. It turns out that Milton once had a home. “Milton was not born a stray. Rather, he was purchased from a husky breeder with the implied promise of a decent life. But the family had no intention of ever caring for him and kept him tied up and neglected in their yard and then put him out on the street like unwanted furniture,” Kamilla with Good World Animal Rescue and Protection revealed.

Kamilla took Milton back to their shelter to nurse him back to health. After several months of medical treatment, a special diet, and daily care, he was virtually unrecognizable—all his fur had grown back. Around that time, the animal rescue saved two orphaned bear cubs whose mother had been killed. That’s when Milton stepped up to help.

Milton had struggled to bond with other dogs, but he immediately became the cubs’ protector and foster dad. Shortly after, Milton went to a dear friend of Kamilla’s to be fostered, and within days, her friend called back in tears saying she couldn’t let Milton go. Now, the affectionate and easygoing dog has a forever home where he’ll never be cast aside again.
