Man and Dog Chased Home By Coyotes in Broad Daylight
A pet parent says he nearly lost his dog after a routine walk turned into a dangerous encounter with two aggressive coyotes.
Scott Towers and his dog were out walking near his home in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, when they ran into two coyotes. As soon as Towers made eye contact the coyotes began running at them. He immediately held his dog close to his side and began sprinting home with the coyotes giving chase. Surveillance footage in the area caught the scary pursuit on camera.

Thankfully, Towers got inside safely in time, although the coyotes pursued them right to his doorstep.
“I felt like I just almost lost our dog… and it was really hard, couldn’t stop breathing really hard and my heart was beating, it was very stressful,” Towers told CTV News afterwards of the encounter.

He contacted the authorities but has yet to hear back and wasn’t happy with the response. Coyotes in the area have also recently been filmed chasing after a bear. Towers is warning other residents in the area with pets to be very cautious.
Wildlife experts noted that coyotes tend to be more aggressive in Autumn as they defend their territory. They recommend a different course of action than Towers took, recommending that people loud and assertive and then back away slowly if the animals start to approach.
