Lewis Hamilton Mourning The Loss of His Beloved Bulldog, Roscoe

British Formula 1 race car driver Lewis Hamilton has said goodbye to his beloved Bulldog Roscoe. The 12-year-old dog died after battling pneumonia for several days. Hamilton shared the sad news on social media on September 28th after he skipped going to a tire testing day earlier in the week to be by Roscoe’s side. Roscoe had developed the lung infection and fell into a coma. The veterinarians were unable to revive him.

“After four days on life support, fighting with every bit of strength he had, I had to make the hardest decision of my life and say goodbye to Roscoe. He never stopped fighting, right until the very end,” Hamilton shared on Instagram.

“Although I lost Coco (Hamilton’s dog who died in 2020), I have never been faced with putting a dog to sleep before, though I know my mum and many close friends have,” he continued. “It is one of the most painful experiences and I feel a deep connection to everyone who has gone through the loss of a beloved pet. Although it was so hard, having him was one of the most beautiful parts of life, to love so deeply and to be loved in return.”

He added, “He died on Sunday evening, 28th September in my arms.”

Roscoe was a regular fixture in the F1 champion’s life, accompanying him to the racetrack, paddock, and everywhere he went. Hamilton called the dog his “best friend.”

Just a month and a half ago, the Bulldog was featured by Vogue. The magazine shared photos of the pair on Instagram and wrote, “Over the years, the now 12-year-old has become a star like Hamilton himself, from a Hollywood-worthy filmography to brand ambassadorships. And now, Roscoe is on the cover of #Dogue, just months after his dad fronted the cover of Vogue. But how is the F1 pup faring in and out of the paddock? Roscoe rarely leaves Hamilton’s side and has even picked up some of his dad’s tastes. “He likes fancy, fancy sneakers,” Hamilton says. “He picks up my Dior trainers and always takes them with him. He’s so bougie.”

A day after Roscoe’s passing, Hamilton shared a heartwarming video of clips of their time together and captioned it “Roscoe Forever.”

Rest in Peace and run free, Roscoe.
