Pool Worker Arrives at Perfect Time to Save Dog Who Sunk To Bottom
Vinicius Orlando regularly cleans and services swimming pools for families in Goiás, Brazil. Recently, though, he ended up becoming a hero after arriving at a home just in time to save a dog from drowning.
Orlando had arrived at the home expecting to see Choquito, the family’s one-eyed dog greet him at the door. But this time there was no barks of welcome. But he did here a noise coming from the pool and right away imagined that the dog might be in trouble. Was he ever right! He ran out to the pool and spotted a wet cover and pulled it back only to see Choquito had sunk to the bottom and wasn’t moving.

Orlando dove in, pulled the little dog out, and began CPR. After a tense few seconds of chest compressions, Choquito started to respond. Orlando called the family immediately, and they rushed him to the vet. Incredibly, within 30 minutes, Choquito had fully recovered.
Security footage later revealed what happened: Choquito had squeezed through a narrow gap in the pool gate, fallen in, and struggled to stay afloat for 40 minutes before finally sinking. Orlando had arrived just one minute later.
Orlando later told news stations that the rescue was truly a miracle, and that he had just learned emergency CPR a few weeks earlier! The family is extremely grateful for Orlando’s heroism and that Choquito is doing well and back to his naughty ways. We’re quite certain the family will make sure to fence up their pool further to avoid any future pool accidents!
