Oops! Dogs Accidentally Call 911 Sixteen Times—Police Pay a Friendly Visit
A Papillon and a hound made headlines after dialing 911 sixteen times in just 30 minutes—sending police to their Lakeville, Minnesota, home.
The two dogs, Remy and Bon Bon, accidentally reached the Lakeville Police Department and when the 911 operator answered all they could hear was barking but nothing else before the call dropped.
Officers Michelle Roberts and Emily Bares were dispatched to the home. When they arrived, the dogs were inside but the owners were not. The officers were able to contact the owners and get inside. Remy and Bon Bon didn’t need to go outside; they seemed far more interested in getting petted.
The officers discovered a cell phone set to emergency call on an office desk upstairs, which the dogs somehow managed to dial. Both officers laughed at the unusual situation, with Officer Roberts saying, “If that’s the biggest news of our day, that’s a good day.”
The dogs’ owner had no idea they could make calls, let alone reach 911. He’s learned his lesson and will be storing the phone away when he’s not home.
