Munson and Caroline by Gina Kurtz on DogHeirs
"We were told by many that we should get rid of Munson, our English bulldog, before our daughter was born because of the breeds recent bad press for attacking children... She's now 3 1/2 months old and he's 2 years old in a week and has protected her from day 1. He even offered her his favorite toy (that he NEVER shares) when we first brought her home and she'd get upset and cry. He's constantly checking on her if we have company & they're playing with her or holding her. He thinks she's his so we were surprised when he snuck this kiss and we were glad that we were already taking pictures to capture such a sweet moment. I'd say it's safe to say that he loves her." All of these picture are beautiful . I myself find it so important to have a dog and or a cat in the lives of children. It teaches them how to be gentle and compassion for others. The people that think that you should get rid of your pet because of the baby are fools !!!! The bonds between the baby and pet are special and memories that will live with all forever. These pictures capture the unconditional love dogs have for us and their little humans. We could definitely learn from them :)
After looking at all those photos, I think that it's pretty safe to say that dogs are family. I grew up with a dog and I can identify with some of the pictures. Looking out the window with the dog to see if my father was home. On the floor with a blanket watching a movie with the dog curled up beside me. I can tell you from personal experience that I hold those memories close to my heart and consider them precious. Dogs can teach valuable life lessons. From caring and understanding to respect and empathy, ending in the reality of mortality. Dogs can teach these things by their very nature. Beautiful pictures, beautiful memories, and beautiful families. Thank you for sharing them.
