When Bella the Boxer’s family brought home their newborn baby, Malina, they were surprised and delighted by the dog’s response.
“When we brought our first daughter home from the hospital we weren’t sure how the dog would react,” they wrote. “Would she be jealous? Protective? We knew she would be a great family dog but we didn’t expect this! The two of them are too cute!”
Her reaction? One of mom and protector. Since Malina’s come home, Bella sleeps in her room under her crib and follows her and her parents everywhere. And she is the first to alert them when Malina is upset.
Bella’s family added, “In exchange for her vigilance as a guard dog, Bella is rewarded with far more baby snacks than we would ever allow. But our floors stay clean!”
Bella isn’t the first dog to dote on their human siblings. When baby Danielle arrived, Kobe the Golden Retriever couldn’t wait to meet her. And Tilly loves her baby sister Gwen.
