Homeless Beagle with Lymphoma Will Spend Last Christmas with New Family

A plea to find a terminally ill Beagle a forever home for Christmas has been answered. Griswold, an 8-year-old beagle battling lymphoma, will spend what might be his last Christmas with a loving family.

Richmond Animal League (RAL) put out the call to find Griswold a home after they learned there was no long-term treatment that could help him. Griswold also has chronic dry eye and some skin issues.

“We do understand with his prognosis, it will be a special home, but he is a special dog and we are confident that there is somebody out there who will love this guy, for however long he has,” Kaicee Robertson said.

Griswold loves Cheese Wiz, snuggles and food. The homeless dog was one of 51 animals that the shelter in Chesterfield County, Virginia, included in their seventh annual Operation Silent Night.

The holiday adoption event is geared at finding a home for every animal in the shelter over the holidays.

Griswold didn’t have to wait long, however. “On the first night of Operation Silent Night, Griswold found his family,” RAL writes.

Griswold is sure to be spoiled this Christmas.

His story is a great reminder that there are many other homeless pets looking for a loving home for the holidays. Reach out to your local rescue and make another Griswold very happy!
