Chihuahua Nicknamed ‘Eddie the Terrible’ Adopted After Brutally Honest (but Funny) Ad Posted

We love the approach this rescue took to help get one of their dogs adopted. The Humane Society of Silicon Valley chose to post an adoption ad about the 2-year-old Chihuahua nicknamed Eddie The Terrible that didn’t mince words.

They said Eddie is rude, he’s naughty and he’s really mean around other dogs. He’s also not good around kids and hates his crate, even though he’s housebroken. The Humane Society went as far as admitting he’s kind of a jerk.

The organization gave three (hilarious, but truthful) reasons why not to adopt him on their blog:

1. He’s not good around other dogs. “At the sight of another dog, all bets are off. It’s Cujo time,” the organization wrote.

2. He’s not so good around kids and skittish around some people. “Some dogs love kids. We have a bunch of child-lovin’ dogs. Eddie the Terrible, however, is not one of them. Honestly he’s a little whiffy with some adults, too. Not in an eat-them sort of way but in ‘this makes me very nervous’ sort of way. Eddie’s never actually bitten anyone but we’re not saying it could never happen.”

They added, “In a home environment Eddie is lovely. He’s housebroken, loyal, fun and friendly. He lives to play fetch. But socially? He stinks.”

3. He is crate-trained, but he isn’t interested in sleeping in it. “A bed in your room? Awesome. In the bed with you? Better. In a crate? Let him sing you the song of his people …” the group wrote.

They even went as far as creating some memes of Eddie that speak for themselves.

Despite his drawbacks, the Humane Society’s approach worked. Their brutally honest blog post worked and Eddie has been adopted by a retired couple who heard about him on the local news. It sounds like they have a bit of work ahead of them, but it also sounds like they got a dog who loves to cuddle in bed and be king of his castle.
