Stray Rescue of St. Louis found a female Pit Bull in an abandoned home, much like they find many dogs. But this dog was a new mother and she was struggling to keep her puppies warm in freezing cold temperatures.
Donna Lochmann, chief life saving officer at Stray Rescue of St. Louis, approached the mama carefully with a leash and with lots of sausages in hand. The mama was protective of her pups and didn’t want to leave them, giving Donna a warning growl. But Donna soon convinces the mama to follow her, which she does obediently – it’s as if she understands she’s getting out!
Then it was time to get her babies to safety.
The puppies were so cold they were shaking. But thankfully, they got warmed up back at the shelter by the loving staff and their mom!
