Description
A tortured dog that survived. A man with a mission. A town, a state, a nation and a world that responded with awareness and policies to address animal cruelty. Here is the book that inspired national laws for animal protection and inspired the movie “A DOG NAMED GUCCI” in 2016.
The Author Writes : “In June, 1995, Gucci and I made a swing through Alabama State House to lobby for passage of HR290, the Gucci Bill. We were accompanied by James Gordon of WALA-TV, Mobile and Wade Ellerman. Through James’ connection, we wereableto visit briefly with Govenor Fob James, who is an animal lover and supporter of the Gucci Bill. Nearly every day, a year after Gucci’s story became widely known, I still receive letters or telephone calls from Canada, Australia, and all over the United States. The letters too often include newspaper clippings of animal abuse, which only stiffens my resolve to continue pushing for stricter laws to protect animals and to punish abusers. I trust that you, dear reader and animal lover, will do what you can in your community for stricter punishment for animal abusers, if there is little or no protection for God’s creatures there.”
