A man who lead police on a high speed chase is in jail after he chose the wrong backyard to hide in.
Jax is a German Shepherd who was trained to be a K-9 Officer with the Oklahoma Police Department but failed his training because he was too afraid of thunder.
But that didn't stop Jax from putting his training into action when a suspect took refuge in his family's shed.
David Cunningham told KFOR News that he noticed Jax was pacing back and forth in front of the door to the back yard. David immediately knew there was someone or something hiding in the dark. When he opened the back door Jax immediately ran to the shed and began barking and howling. That's when he heard a voice. "We heard someone saying 'Don't shoot, I surrender,'" said David.
It turns out Dustin Lance Powell was in the shed. The man allegedly led officers on a high speed chase through the streets of Norman, Oklahoma before trying to hide in the Cunningham's yard. Powell now faces multiple charges including possession of a stolen vehicle.
Jax ended up blocking the alleged suspect in the shed until police arrived and arrested him.
David said that Jax is a great dog and very protective of his family. And it would seem his training paid off!
