Good Samaritan saves life of puppy thrown from vehicle

  • puppy rescued after being thrown from truck

Natasha Stidman was driving to work on Thursday when she witnessed a horrific sight. The vehicle in front of her was tossing objects out of the car window. It took her a second to recognize that the three thrown objects were, in fact, puppies.

"I'd seen something splatter on the road, and I realized that it was animals being thrown out. I slammed my brakes and I turned around. There was one puppy alive laying in the middle of the road, and I stopped traffic to get him," she told 14 News.

She picked up the one surviving puppy and drove to the nearest veterinarian clinic in Tyler, Texas, that she could find. The puppy had a swollen jaw and injured leg and was treated by the veterinarian.

Natasha is disbelieving that people could be so cruel. "I have animals and I would never do anything like that. If they didn't want [the puppies], they could have taken them to the pound. Maybe they would have a chance," Natasha said.

Because Natasha stopped for the pups, she could only make out that the vehicle was an old silver pickup truck. "I was crying hysterically because I'm an animal lover and all I thought was, 'I've got to see if these puppies are still alive,'" said Natasha.

Thanks to Natasha's actions, that one puppy has a second chance. The veterinarian who treated the puppy said he may have already found the puppy a home.

Would it not be safe to assume that the person who perpetrated this crime might do it again. Your story on Nov. 15 2012 Woman Witnesses, Rescues 6 Puppies Thrown from Truck was a very similar case. The first crime happened in Floresville 328.8 miles 5 hours and 30 minutes away. Both trucks were described as pickup trucks, one silver one white. Depending on lighting conditions at the time, it would be very easy to make a mistake as to the color of the truck. The sun on the horizon or the glare from the road. I know that it's quite a long distance between each of these cases, but if you cut the distance in half you might get a central location of where this person is located. We should keep an eye open for any similar cases like this 165 miles out from the central point between Floresville and Tyler Texas. I know that this is a long shot on very limited information, and the odds are the two stories are not related, but it is always wise to keep ones mind open to the possibilities. To the little puppy, get well soon my little friend. Thank you Natasha.
